Coordinate a Group

KidsLink Downrange is run by volunteers! This project needs you to be a volunteer coordinator for your Group. Here are steps for you to take in being a coordinator and helping create card kits for kids!

Download these steps in PDF form: KidsLink Coordinator Steps

  1. Discuss the project with your group and how it will impact military kids.
  2. Get a feel from your group and PLEDGE! how many Card Kits you will create.
  3. Donate your pledged amount. $1 per kit that you pledge is required, but we encourage larger donations. (Find out more about pledging and donating.)
  4. Sign up on the Community Forum and register your group on the Community Forum to communicate with other Card Kit creators and KidsLink staff on progress, ideas, or questions you might have. Click “Add a Group” and fill in the details of your group. Then invite your group members to join your group. The purpose of this group is to talk about the project, arrange meeting times, or to celebrate getting the project done together. You will receive important periodic updates from KidsLink from this Community Forum.
  5. “Like” KidsLink Downrange on Facebook (if you have a Facebook account). Here you can communicate with church groups, kids, soldiers, MOPS moms, and anyone else participating in the project. There will also be updates and news listed on this Facebook page!
  6. Pick a date and time where you will host an event to create Card Kits. Make sure you can make the kits and get them sent by the requested postmark date for your project (if necessary). You may have to meet more than once to complete the number of kits you have pledged.
  7. Gather resources for making cards. See your Instructions and Resources for examples.
  8. Have fun making cards!!
  9. Package all necessary materials and postmark by any deadline requested. Make sure you send your send your package to the right location. Check the Locations page for more information.
  10. Pray for the families receiving these card kits and wait in anticipation for a child to receive your card kit! Wait for a prayer response card to come to you that will contain prayer requests so you can pray more specifically for the individual child. (Please keep in mind that not all kids will send back their cards. This is the decision of the family who receives your kit.)
